To become a Florida voter you must meet the following qualifications: 

  • Be a United States citizen. 
  • Be a legal resident of Florida, in the county where you are registering at. 
  • Be at least 16 years old at the time of registration. (Note: 16 and 17 year olds can pre-register, but you must be 18 years old to vote).  
  • Not have had your voting rights removed by a court.

Vote By Mail

Vote By Mail refers to voting via casting a ballot that you requested in advance and received by mail, instead of going to the polls to vote in person. 

Steps to Vote By Mail 

  1. Sign up to Vote By Mail. You may do so by clicking HERE!
  2. You will receive your ballot along with a voter packet to your address about one month before the election. 
  3. Once you receive it, fill out your ballot according to the instructions on the voter packet.
  4. Sign your ballot and return it via mail!

Voting by mail is a safe and convenient way to cast a ballot from the comfort of your own home without ever having to go to the polls in person. It is a great option for people with disabilities, mobility and transportation challenges, or busy unpredictable schedules!

If you are a registered Florida voter, you are entitled to vote by mail. You do not need to provide an explanation to vote by mail.

The deadline to request a Vote By Mail ballot is before 5pm on the 12th day BEFORE the election. 

Make sure you request your Vote By Mail ballot as soon as possible! Don’t wait for the deadline!

If your Vote By Mail ballot gets damaged or lost, you may request another ballot by contacting your Supervisor of Elections office. Click here to find your Supervisor of Elections contact information.

You may return your filled out Vote By Mail ballot in the following safe and convenient ways: 

  • Mailing it back to the Supervisor of Elections office. Make sure your ballot is received by the Supervisor of Elections office before 7pm on election night!
  • Instructions to return your Vote By Mail ballot via mail will be included in your voter packet. 
  • Returning it in person by depositing it into a secure drop box at a designated location.
  • A Vote By Mail ballot cannot be returned online, via email, or via fax. 

All Vote By Mail ballots MUST be received by the Supervisor of Elections office before 7pm on Election Day.

If you are returning the Vote By Mail ballot by mail, we recommend that you mail it back at least 10 days before the election. If you are returning the Vote By Mail ballot in person, you must drop it off at a designated secure drop box location by 7pm on Election Day.

Yes, you can vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day if you requested and received a Vote By Mail ballot. Make sure that you bring your Vote By Mail ballot with you, and turn it in before you vote in person. 

All Vote By Mail ballot requests expire at the end of each election cycle (December 31st after Presidential and Midterm elections). You must renew your Vote By Mail ballot request for every election cycle. 

Voting In Person

If you are a registered Florida voter, you are entitled to vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day.

Precinct and polling location information can be found on your voter information card. To find your precinct or polling location online, or for the most current information about polling place changes, visit your Supervisor of Elections’ website or contact the office.

At your polling location, you will be asked to provide a valid photo ID with a signature. Any one of the following photo IDs will be accepted:

  • Florida driver’s license or ID card
  • United States passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military identification
  • Student identification
  • Retirement center identification
  • Neighborhood association identification
  • Public assistance identification
  • Veteran health identification card issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06 Government employee identification card

If your photo ID does not include your signature, you will be asked to provide another ID that has your signature.
